ONLINE MULTIPLAYER GAMES ON LANGUAGE LEARNING

Technology, since many years ago, has had a big growth. Moreover, people has improved technological skills in order to use it for different purposes. For instance, children and young man use game devices to learn new languages. This could seem impressive, but this is the reality we are facing nowadays. This is the case of online multiplayer games, these have something in particular; all them, which are in this category, have the capability of connecting people all around the world. How is it possible? the answer is as simple as the fact that, these kind of apps involve some options and tools that can be used to comment or share ideas about the game.

First of all, let’s understand what is an online multiplayer game. It is defined as video games in which more than one person can interact and play in the same game environment. That is why, you can join matches or rooms where you could face people from different social surroundings. Moreover, you are able to talk to them; however, if you meet people who speak different languages, it could be challenging. For instance, you can easily lose the sense of what they are talking about. Nonetheless, as this is a game with the same settings, tools, information or interaction; you will be able to learn new words from any language, just by making comparisons with your language setting. This could be possible through images or videos that come from the game and are the same for all them. So then, you will be acquiring new vocabulary and improving any target language.

Second of all, at the time you are learning words from a different language, you will be able to make use of them and try to communicate with native people. At the beginning this could be kind of impossible; however, as you are being exposed to the target language, you will get new target language vocabulary just by listening. For instance, our brain would be constantly active because of the language connections that would be doing. So then, by the moment in which you get enough knowledge, you will be making associations and performing the target language, but in a basic way and only related with vocabulary from the game.

From my point of view, we have the capability to use whatever we have in our hands to learn and improve language skills. The technology is the most useful tool that you can use in order to learn new languages, and more than that, you are able to do it in the way you like the most. For instance, through a simple game, you can receive a lot of input that can help you to get any target language. So, whether you learn a new language or not, it is just up to you!
